British subjects the Medical Inspection Regulations

of 1882.

I am informed that the inspection is a very

thorough one, and all the disinfecting machines are

of the latest type The steps taken have in any case

up to the present date been very successful in pre-

venting the spread of the disease. From April

19th to 30th only 30 cases were officially reported

as having occurred in this country, of these 25

occurred on board ships arriving at the disinfecting

stations at Wada no Misaki and 9 at Moji

were 16 deaths at the former place and 1 at the

latter.

This information I conveyed on the 6th

instant to Their Excellencies the Governors of

Singapore and HongKong, - but the disease not having

assumed any alarming proportions, I did not think

it necessary to address a further report to Your

Lordship by last mail.

The following table gives a daily return of the

cholera cases and deaths from May 1st to 17th noon
